I had been dealing with a neck issue for a while. I work at a desk most of the day and over time I started getting a lot of tightness and these really annoying knots on both sides of my neck/shoulders. I usually went to get a shoulder massage once in a while to get rid of the knots but a friend of mine recommended I see a physio so I made an appointment with Colin. He was very thorough in explaining the causes. learned a lot about my posture. He also recommended some exercises. The tightness and knots have already improved a lot since then. My whole neck and shoulders used to feel really stiff but I have a much wider range of motion in my neck now. My shoulders also feel much less tight. I can still feel some of the knots when I shrug but they are slowly getting better. Really happy with the progress so far. Would absolutely recommend Colin to anyone looking for a good PT.Posted on Google![]()

I saw Colin for an ankle issue that was really starting to get in the way of being active. He was great from the first appointment and made the whole process feel a lot less intimidating. He was really thorough with figuring out where the problem was coming from and gave me exercises that actually felt like they had a purpose. The biggest thing for me was how much attention he paid to the little details and how my ankle was progressing from week to week. He never rushed anything and always made sure I was comfortable before pushing things further. My ankle is in a completely different place now, and I’m back to doing the activities I enjoy without constantly worrying about it. Really grateful for all the help, Colin is an awesome physio and I’d absolutely recommend him.Posted on Google![]()

I am so glad I got to choose Evolve for my recovery from a MVA. It was able to get Vestibular Physiotherapy from Erin, RMT from Michael and Roylan, and my major part of recovery through Kinesiology with Gordan who supported me with my exercises and strength training. I highly recommend Evolve. They are an amazing team.Posted on Google![]()

Zac has been more than helpful with my stiff body. It has been the best physiotherapy I've received in Canada i started getting results from day one. Physio in this clinic is very underrated, as most of the focus is on RMT but this is the place you wanna be for your years of muscle tension. Thanks Zac for helping me understand my body better.Posted on Google![]()

My husband and I really enjoy working with Randy Gao for physiotherapy. He’s knowledgeable, gets to know you, so he never gives you too much you can’t handle. And he’s super easy to talk to. I can tell we will enjoy our recovery journey with him. My husband also has high praise for Vincent Chan-Ying. My husband is super picky about RMTs but Vince seems to be his perfect match in terms of knowledge and personality. However, it’s unfortunate their schedules don’t match anymore. Vincent does book out early. For me, I enjoy working with Kevin Huang for RMT. He’s soft spoken, and just lets me relax. He’s really great! But again, it’s unfortunate our schedules haven’t worked out recently.Posted on Google![]()

I work with a few practitioners at Evolve because I like the location and I love the people there. It's clean and modern. Due to an ICBC accident, I was looking for a RMT and Physio at first. I found Michael (RMT) and Brianna (Physio). Michael was great, he understood my pain areas and always helped me get back movement after our sessions. Brianna is a magician! She has a way to find my underlying problems and magically makes them disappear. A lot of sessions were cupping with mobility and a lot of manual therapy. I find it rare to find a physiotherapist nowadays that doesn't just leave you on the bed with some machines. I very much appreciate her hands-on approach. Finally, my recovery lead me to Gordon (Kinesiologist). Gordon is patient, tentative and challenging. I feel stronger, more stable and have a better understanding of my body (and the weak points) because of the work we've done together. I look forward to our sessions because I know he can make my body feel better, long-term. Even after the ICBC claims are all done, I plan to continue to use Evolve regularly for RMT, Physio & Kinesiology. PS: If you've never tried kinesiology and you've only ever used RMT & Physio like me in the past, give it a try, the conditioning and strengthening work has longer impact on your body!Posted on Google![]()

I had a great experience with Randy Gao at this clinic! And there's also plenty of street parking, which was nice. He really took the time to listen and didn’t rush the appointment. Unlike other physios I’ve seen for my back, he did his own thorough assessment instead of relying on previous opinions. He explained everything clearly and adjusted exercises based on how I was feeling. I felt heard and genuinely cared for. I’d definitely recommend Randy to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and thoughtful physio.Posted on Google![]()

The staff is incredibly welcoming, and the therapists are some of the most knowledgeable I've encountered. Being so close to the SkyTrain makes it my go-to spot after work. Recommend anyone looking for a RMT spot. Also have great physio and acupuncture on staff.+0Posted on Google![]()

I’ve spent the past year at Evolve Vancouver as part of my recovery, and I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better team. Everyone here is incredibly kind, professional, and truly invested in helping you get better. I was always looking forward to my appointments. It’s rare to find a clinic where every person makes you feel supported, welcomed, and understood. My kinesiologist Gordan helped me move past a lot of anxiety around movement and slowly rebuild strength and confidence in my body. His patience, encouragement, and knowledge made such a big difference in my recovery. Special thanks to Corey (RMT) and Brianna (Physio) as well — both were so helpful throughout the year, and every session with them felt productive, positive, and genuinely enjoyable. The whole process at Evolve is smooth: easy to book, clear communication, and a team that knows what they’re doing. They’re knowledgeable, skilled, and honestly just really great people. Highly recommend this clinic to anyone who wants to feel supported, motivated, and cared for during their recovery.Posted on Google![]()

I’m a very active man who resistance and hiit trains a total of 5-7 days per week, stays active in the summer, hiking and biking and ski’s throughout the winter. I experienced a severe lower back injury recently and the two following professionals are aiding in my rapid recovery. Elton Chen RMT: I’ve been seeing Elton off and on for the past 4 years as needed. During my most recent injury, Elton has shown incredible proficiency, professionalism and understanding of my situation. His technique and capabilities far exceed my expectations. Post treatment, I leave the evolve office feeling loose, relaxed, and satisfied. The space is modern, clean, welcoming. Highly recommend to all with injuries and/or require ongoing maintenance. Rohit Sawalkar, Physio: Rohit really knows his craft. After a full verbal and physical assessment, Rohit knew my issue immediately, an SI joint disfunction and hip imbalance. Rohit introduced me to IMS needling, hitting all my pain points plus physical manipulation of my hips and leg, it’s been 24 hours and I feel like a new person. Rohit also identified other areas of concern, which we will be working on moving forward. Big thanks goes out to the team at Evolve, thank you for being amazing in all areas.Posted on Google![]()

I've been going to Matt at Evolve for a few months (years now), and he's amazing. Very attentive to what needs to be worked on, and really gets in the muscles, all while checking in to make sure pressure is good for me. Definitely recommend, and will continue to go see him. Saw Brianna at Knight st location for my injured shoulder. I could barely move my arm in any direction. After seeing her, within 2 days I had about 98% mobility back. Will definitely be going to her next time I need physio.Posted on Google![]()

I've been a regular at the clinic with Roy, one of their skilled Registered Massage Therapists. His caring nature and genuine concern for clients make it easy for me to feel comfortable and relaxed during sessions. I'd also like to acknowledge Jeremy, one of my regular massage therapists. His calm demeanor and skilled expertise make him a standout in his field. I've had the pleasure of working with Erin, a highly skilled physiotherapist. Her guidance and customized exercises have significantly improved my physical well-being, and I'm grateful for her expertise.Posted on Google![]()

Have had such great experiences here, both from the treatments themselves and the service I've received. I've had two appointments each with Vince for RMT and Rohit for Physiotherapy and, though 'life-changing' feels a bit dramatic, were so fantastic I've recommended them both to anyone who will listen. Evolve itself is a lovely calming space, and they were so helpful and communicative when there was an issue with one of my insurance payments. Hoping to try out some Kinesiology personal training next!Posted on Google![]()

I had some issues with my shoulder and upper back. I was grateful to be able to book RMT and Physio sessions with Elton and Brianna right away. They were both excellent. On-time, professional and courteous. Both provided treatment and therapy that helped alleviate the issue and get me on the road to recovery. My shoulder is almost fully recovered now. Facility is clean and well-organized, with all necessary equipment. Plentiful parking in the rear, as well as street parking. Direct billing was processed with no issues, with quick credit card payment for the remainder of the bill.
our Unique process
At Evolve Vancouver, we take a 4-step approach to Physiotherapy: Assessment, Treatment and Exercise Prescription and Behaviour Modification.
We take a holistic approach with our process. The body is very complex, but we will do our best to break down and simplify this complexity. Our physiotherapists can provide a wide variety of solutions for issues ranging from sports injuries, chronic pain and even prehabilitation. We understand everyone presents with a unique set of circumstances that can influence the issues you are having. We ensure that your assessment and exercise programs are tailored specifically to you and your unique set of circumstances. Our physiotherapists apply a biopsychosocial lens to your assessment which can help to determine what the major factors contributing to your problem are.
Step 1: Assessment
Our assessment starts with an interview to get a better idea of the history and contributing factors. Our therapists take their time to build rapport and communicate effectively, as this helps to guide the course of treatment. Asking questions throughout the session is an effective way for our therapists to piece together the bigger picture. In addition to an interview, our therapists apply many different types of physical assessments depending on what is most relevant to your situation.
Step 2: Treatment
Physiotherapy treatment encompasses numerous techniques and modalities. Our Physiotherapists take in consideration findings from the assessment as well as past experiences with treatments to help tailor a specific treatment plan for you. This may include manual therapy techniques including joint mobilization or manipulation to reduce joint stiffness and pain as well as soft tissue massage or IMS to decrease muscle tightness and pain.
Step 3: Exercise Prescription
Exercise prescription will vary greatly depending on your goals and expectations. Based on your assessment, we will choose the most appropriate exercises for you. For example, those experiencing pain with movement will be taught new movement strategies that positively support your body. This may mean, in some cases, using pain as a guide through motion. Other times, we may not need to feel pain at all if we can find a realistic and relevant way for you to move. Either way, our goal is to provide you with a challenge so your body can adapt and grow more resilient. And in the long run, we want to teach you more about your body so you can take your health into your own hands, and become empowered. Our Physios are also able to provide movement modifications in cases where we need to give the body a bit of a break.
Step 4: Behavior Modification
Sometimes, our daily habits can be contributing factors. This may include factors such as lack of physical activity and stress management. Being active helps with relaxation, provides increased energy and is fun too. It also helps to reduce the incidence of health related problems such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis and helps to maintain a healthy weight. With an advanced knowledge of how to keep your body moving, our Physiotherapists can help plan your exercise regime, prescribe exercises to strengthen your weak areas and choose the right activity to suit your needs.
Stress is a normal part of day to day life. However, when we experience prolonged stress that is not managed effectively, it can lead to a build of adrenalin causing muscle tension, high blood pressure and poor sleep quality. This in turn can also cause emotional dysregulation such as anxiety and depression. Symptoms of stress may include headaches, panic attacks, increased incidences of asthma attacks and stress-related skin conditions. Physiotherapy can help with stress management by helping to identify contributing lifestyle factors, coping strategies, behavior modification and advice on relaxation techniques such as deep breathing. It could be something as simple as going for walks out in nature! Physios will also recommend referrals to other relevant healthcare professionals if necessary.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Physiotherapy is a regulated healthcare profession focused on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of pain, injuries, and movement dysfunction. At Evolve Vancouver, our Physiotherapists work one-on-one with you to determine the root cause of your discomfort. They provide diagnoses, evidence-based treatments, and customized exercise programs to help you recover from sports injuries, chronic pain, or accidents and improve your overall quality of life.
Yes, we accept ICBC claims for physiotherapy and offer direct billing with select practitioners. If you are recovering from a motor vehicle accident, your 45-minute Initial ICBC Physiotherapy appointment has a $0 user fee. Subsequent 30-minute ICBC follow-up sessions also have a $0 user fee. Please contact our clinic to verify practitioner availability for direct billing.
Yes, we offer direct billing to most major extended health insurance and work benefit providers. This makes it simple and affordable to get the care you need without the hassle of submitting receipts yourself. Please contact our clinic to verify if we can directly bill your insurance. You’ll need to contact your insurance provider for plan specific coverage information.
Your first visit starts with a thorough interview so we can hear your story and understand your unique health history. The physiotherapist will then perform physical assessments—such as checking joint range of motion, strength, and functional movement—to determine the contributing factors to your pain. Finally, they will collaborate with you to create a personalized treatment and exercise plan.
Our modern approach encompasses a wide variety of evidence-based treatments. Depending on your needs, your session may include joint mobilization or manipulation, manual stretching, myofascial treatment, IMS (Dry Needling), traction, and specialized therapies for concussions, headaches, and vestibular (dizziness/balance) issues.
Absolutely. Our physiotherapists are trained to assess and treat concussions and vestibular disorders. We provide specialized eye movement and tracking assessments, alongside targeted vestibular and concussion rehabilitation therapies to help manage dizziness, headaches, and balance issues safely and effectively.
Yes, exercise prescription is a core component of our 4-step physiotherapy process. While hands-on manual therapy is excellent for reducing immediate joint stiffness and pain, active exercises build long-term resilience. We will prescribe a realistic, targeted exercise routine—from mobility work to strength training—to empower you to take your health into your own hands.
We apply a holistic, “biopsychosocial” lens to our care. This means we look beyond just the physical injury to understand how lifestyle habits, physical activity levels, and even daily stress are contributing to your pain. We include this in our treatment plans to help you manage stress, improve daily habits, and optimize your overall well-being.
No, you do not need a referral from a doctor to book a physiotherapy appointment in British Columbia. Physiotherapists are primary healthcare providers. However, some specific extended health insurance plans may require a doctor’s note for you to be reimbursed, so it is always a good idea to check your policy details.
